Aircraft Safety Requirements
As an aircraft owner or operator there are a number of mediums for reporting airworthiness matters and other aircraft safety advice. The first port of call should be your aircraft (and components such as engines and propellors) manufacturers however there are other offical sources you are responsible for keeping an eye on too. Below are links to the key sources of aircraft airworthiness communications you should need
Airworthiness Directives
Airworthiness Directives (ADs) are issued when there is a safety deficiency identified with an aircraft or component after it has been certificated. ADs specify corrective action to be taken to ensure your aircraft remains safe and airworthy
As of October 2012, the New Zealand CAA no longer publishes airworthiness directives relating to aircraft certificated overseas. As an owner, you will need to check the relevant country of your aircraft manufacturer's certification using the links below. As an aircraft owner it is mandatory to comply with airworthiness directives applicable to your aircraft. The links below direct you to the NZ CAA website

Continuing Airworthiness Notices
CANs are issued by the NZ CAA where no formal directive has been issued regarding an airworthiness matter but in the opinion of the CAA it is significant to New Zealand aircraft operators. While they are of an advisory nature (and not mandatory) they are not issued lightly and as an aircraft owner/operator ultimately it is your safety that is at risk if you choose not to consider these. Reporting airworthiness matters
Have you found something on your aircraft, or had something happen that stop and made you think 'oh'? Then chances are we need to here from you. While you may have spotted something before it became a real problem others may not be so lucky - give us a heads up of any airthworthiness concerns you run in to along the way by filling out a defect report below.
